# eth_getProof

> **API key required.** This Polygon method is documented for keyed private endpoints. It is not available on `/v1/rpc/public`. [Create an endpoint](https://blockreq.com/docs/getting-started/create-endpoint/index.md) to get an API key.

**Network:** Polygon · Mainnet · Chain ID `137` (`0x89`)

**Counts as 3 requests.** See [Request Counting](https://blockreq.com/docs/pricing/request-counting/index.md).

`eth_getProof` returns an account proof plus optional storage proofs for an address at a block tag. Historical block tags require historical state on that chain.

## Parameters

1. `DATA` - 20-byte account address.
2. `Array<DATA>` - Storage slot keys to prove.
3. `QUANTITY|TAG` - Block number or tag.

## Request

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "method": "eth_getProof",
  "params": ["0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000", [], "0x1"],
  "id": 1
}
```

## Notes

- Available only on EVM chains that support account proofs.
- Use paid endpoints for production proof workloads and old-block state access.
- If a chain page does not list historical state, treat historical proof support as unavailable.
