# API Keys & Applications

API keys are used to authenticate your requests to BlockReq's RPC endpoints. Each endpoint you create comes with its own API key.

## Getting Your API Key

### From the Dashboard

1. Sign in to [BlockReq Dashboard](https://blockreq.com/dashboard)
2. Go to **[Settings](https://blockreq.com/dashboard/settings)** in the left sidebar
3. Your API keys are listed under the **API Keys** section
4. Click the copy icon to copy any key

### From an Endpoint

Each endpoint displays its API key, HTTPS URL, and WSS URL. Navigate to **[Endpoints](https://blockreq.com/dashboard/endpoint)** to view all your endpoints.

## Creating an Application (Endpoint)

An endpoint is your gateway to a specific blockchain network. To create one:

1. Go to **[Endpoints](https://blockreq.com/dashboard/endpoint)**
2. Click **+ Add Endpoint**
3. Select a blockchain network
4. (Optional) Give it a descriptive name
5. Your endpoint is ready — copy the RPC URL and start building

## Using Your API Key

Replace `BRQ1P0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000` in the endpoint URL:

## Programmatic Management

Management REST lives on Web. Use a Management API Key as `Authorization: Bearer akv1_...` — the same owner as a dashboard session. See the [BlockReq API](https://blockreq.com/docs/build/api-reference/blockreq-api/index.md).

## Security Best Practices

- **Never expose API keys in client-side code** — use a backend proxy
- **Rotate keys** by creating a new endpoint and updating your configuration
- **Use separate endpoints** for development, staging, and production
- **Monitor usage** on the [Dashboard](https://blockreq.com/dashboard) to detect unusual activity
